Neighbouring the Sacred Cloak
The summer program is hosted at EDEP’s historic building in Fatih, which sits right beside the Hırka-i Şerif Mosque, which houses the sacred cloak given to Uwais al-Qarani by the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.
The building historically known as Muhafız Konağı (the House of the Guardians), was built in 1851 by the order of Sultan Abdülmecid to protect and exhibit the sacred relic.
EDEP is a civilizational project.
At EDEP, we aim to equip our students, the ʿālimahs of tomorrow, with three qualities: ʿilm (knowledge), adab (virtue), and ihsān (good conduct). What we mean by ʿilm is sciences and acquired knowledge; by adab we mean the pinnacle of prophetic character and courtesy, and by ihsān we mean firstly, the highest level of good deeds and taqwā and, secondly, sharing acquired knowledge with others without expecting anything in return. We apply three methods to reach this goal: taʿlīm (academic teaching), tarbiya (moral teaching) and tazkiyah (purification of the heart).
“EDEP is a civilizational project: it aims to revive a broken chain of knowledge, thought, and art.”
